I named this project "Star Express" which refers a deliver story with 4 main characters play around and have some fun in the galaxy. I started working on this project since 2014 and luckily with Unreal Engine 4 and many marketplace assets and uncountable supports from internet that I am able to make a short film animation with almost 0 budget and 1 guy.

Star Express - Oh The Places You'll Go!
My first animation short film for Epic Games Unreal Film Jam 2019. All pictures rendered in Unreal Engine 4.22 with real-time raytracing. The whole animation was finished by 3 people within 4 weeks in our spare time (3-4 hours per day). Though I changed the story 3 times we still finished the animation on time. The efficiency and pictures quality is incredible.

In 2014 January, I drew a character for an illustration postcard. I named the character "Vans". Later on I started thinking to make an animation story with Vans.

Meanwhile, I went to a storyboard & character design class. So a rough version of Star Express came out in 2015 October.

In 2018 September, in order to connect the name and look better, I changed this character's name to "Danny". In the process of designing this character, I changed his design 7 times to fit the story settings. See the design path below.

The reason I decided to make 2D instead of 3D is the 3d softwares require much more money and more advanced equipment back then. Here's a Danny's 2D emotions look video.

In 2017, I was working at IC-image studio. We were a small studio but had very busy schedule. That busy schedule pushed us to learn an incredible real-time software Unreal Engine 4. It helped us to finish many projects in a very short time. Then I realized it's possible for me to make 3D animation with Unreal Engine 4. And then I changed the whole idea to 3d, also I started to make 3D models and dig into Unreal Engine. See the models' view below.
